In Norfolk, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Virginia vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–7 pm. It is closed on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (757) 588-5660. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 566 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded auto repair shops in Norfolk.

I brought in my own tire sensor to be programmed and installed. They were fast and affordable. It was half the price J&M was charging so I’m very pleased. And they did a courtesy inspection of my other tires and pointed out an issue. I’m definitely going back to address that problem they uncovered

One of the biggest reasons I’m giving it such a low rating on may 9th I got a used tire from them( great price! 50 bucks for one really isn’t bad at all) but when I asked did they torque my tire to the car the person at the counter said they didn’t. Come to me 3 days later going to change my struts and I have to use a beaker bar with a pipe to get more leverage to get the tire off so I can do my maintenance I wanted to do. Now if you take your car to mechanics this might not be a problem for you. If you do your own stuff you know how frustrating this can be or if you’re on the side of the road with a flat and you only have your basic stuff in your car to change it.

Tire City and Affordable Auto was my saving grace. I arrived with a piece of metal in my tire when leaving to go to work. It was completely FLAT. The service was fast, with a minimal wait time., like literally 10 minutes or less. The cost to plug it is affordable and the repair was quick. Definitely a returning customer if I need assistance and will recommend them as well! You can trust Tire City and Affordable Auto!

Friendly fast and honest! These guys are great, bought a used tire from them and had them swap a tire from a rim that didn't fit my car. Outstanding staff, overheard one gentleman tell a customer their tire did not need something they could've lied and upcharged him. Everyone I've encountered here has been professional and courteous. Thanks again, tire city!
